Hot off the tail of this exciting news, here is a throwback interview with Claudia Christian (Commander Susan Ivanova) of Babylon 5: TOS over at DigBoston from The Archives in 2013.

Actress Claudia Christian (Babylon 5, The Hidden) joins us to talk about her tell-all book about Hollywood and a new way of coping with an addiction to alcohol, Babylon Confidential.
DigBoston: What interesting things happened when you first moved to Hollywood?
CLAUDIA CHRISTIAN: When I look back now, I didn’t understand I was working with people like Faye Dunaway, Bob Hope and George Clooney...at the time, they were just people. I wasn’t really inundated with star-struckness. It was just work.
You’re a strong, beautiful woman and a great role model to a lot of young girls that are into sci-fi.
The most satisfying thing was playing Susan Ivanova on Babylon 5 and encouraging little girls to be the Commander. They didn’t have to be the person on the left pushing buttons. And it also helped because a lot of people came out of the closet because of the portrayal.
They decided, “If Ivanova can be bi-sexual, then I can tell my parents”.
If you don’t mind me asking ... your relationship with Babylon 5 creator JMS is fine?
Yeah, we’re good now. We saw each other in (a cast reunion in) Arizona, and had a good time.
What have you been doing recently as far as acting?
Criminal Minds and a film called The Wrong Woman.
And also audio recordings?
I do a ton of games including Skyrim. My nephews couldn’t care less about my 30 year career, but when they found out I was in Skyrim, I became the cool aunt.
You talk about struggles with alcohol, that you deem a ‘monster’. Mind telling us about your recovery?
My alcoholism struck when in my late thirties. I realized that I had a problem so I became sober. I tried everything, I went to AA meetings, which did nothing for me, I tried hypnotism, I tried psychotherapy. You name it.
I wanted to be the Claudia that had a dinner party, have a couple of glasses of wine and be fine. It confused me that something changed in my brain.
I went to the detox center, they treated me horrifically, inhumanely.
On the way out, I saw this flyer, for Vivitrol “Get Rid of the Cravings”.
That lead me to Dr. Roy Eskapa’s book, The Cure for Alcoholism: The Medically Proven Way to Eliminate Alcohol Addiction.
You use an opiate blocker, you take a drink an hour later, it blocks the endorphins, because alcoholics have very high endorphins when they drink.
I say as long as you are on The Sinclair Method, you are in remission. As long as you take that pill before you drink, you are in remission.
You reference The Orange Papers in the book. The blog pits science vs. what it says in The Big Book.
Do you know what Dr. Sinclair says about the moral issue of alcoholism when he was working with his rats? He said, “Moral issue? I’ve never known a bad rat”.
I’m not bashing AA. I believe it helps millions of people. I am totally for it. I believe people can use The Sinclair Method with AA if they want, or with therapy.
For instance you can get sober with The Sinclair Method and then go to meetings to have the support around you.
How long has it been since your sobriety, how long since you’ve been on The Sinclair Method?
We don’t call it sobriety, I’ve been on The Sinclair Method for four years.
What are you working on next?
One Little Pill, a documentary on The Sinclair Method, and the book, Wolf’s Empire.
