Last year, I had my messenger bag on, shopping for an artist at CVS. There’s a thing now that hack comedians are always talking about, “all the deodorant is locked up in a little jail”. Insert Prison Mike gif here.
Someone has to emancipate these products from prison. Sometimes, you'll see people with wrist coil keychains doing just that. I was just grabbing some LaCroix seltzer for an artist for my 23 minute bike ride to the venue.
I obviously had the “I’m working” grimace on my face and the gentleman working asked about my bag. At the time I was doing some Uber Eats delivery still (#NFernoEats!) and I explained to him the job for short money and that it didn’t pay too well but was worth it.
Doing hospitality, or 'setting up the green room' as we called it at the nightclub, is my favorite part of the job. I take small pride in what I tell people (is it the truth?) because it's part of delivering that authentic experience. Some riders have some legit funny shit in them. Comedian Rob Delaney released his book and put Cabbage, Yardstick, Turban on his rider and we accommodated the joke! Probably the only people on the tour to do so!
Listen to our Deadpool & Wolverine episode here!

Even curmudgeonly Dick Dale (RIP) got fresh flowers, because the having a legendary guitarist at your venue, deserves some special attention. Don’t ever ask me about how he didn’t want to pay the MA State taxes on his performance! Because I will tell you he didn’t!
The CVS gentleman said a koan that I’m now using in conversation:
“Some money, is better than no money”.
We’re all about to get our belts tightened. And that’s OK. We’re all about to see prices skyrocket. We’re all about to get together and make changes. And that’s OK. I’ve been thinking about scarcity, abundance, mental health challenges, and debt. And I’m OK. I have a plan. And I have looked down the barrel too many times to give up. I have resilience. I have people who love me back. I can pay back what I borrowed. I can pay for my new teeth. It’s not easy. Life is hard. But I’m OK. And you will be, too.
I have some money. And that’s better than no money.
And, what about more money? Is that better than no money?
Tune into what the oligarchs have planned for the future. Terrifying.
Here is my brief social media video review of Jesse Armtrong’s Mountainhead (2025).
Guys, if you are missing Succession, you have to watch Mountainhead. This is now streaming on Max and it's Jesse Armstrong from Succession, Veep, Peep Show, The Thick Of It, all the greats. This is exposing in a comedic, dark, satirical way about what Sam Altman and all the rest Elon Musk. Jeff Bezos, these multi-billionaire, oligarch, technocrats are up to, and it's comedy.
We've got Jason Schwartzman, Steve Carrell, Ramy Youssef, Cory Michael Smith, who I really loved as the Riddler in one of my favorite shows. Gotham—great series. But if you are missing Succession, you have to see Mountainhead right now. It's so good the snappy dialogue, but, the actors in Succession were great, but we've got like a really awesome crew here, great performances a wild ride into what they would call a retreat and they all go to this place called Mountain Head, which is Jason Schwartzman's character, who he has the least amount of money out of these for.
Technocrats who are all based on Elon and all the rest of the terrible people out there trying to ruin our lives. But it talks about the singularity. It talks about AI, it talks about fake news and how AI is going to kill us all. And really, this movie is amazing. Five stars. Love it. Jesse Armstrong, hope you make more movies. Or another TV show like Succession because I think we really could use it right now.

My Ko-Fi and PayPal fund plus my Substack subscriptions goes toward being able to live my life as a freelancer and directly paying back a dental debt. But as always, we aren't paywalling much these days. It is more important to me to share my thoughts and have people read my writing.
